This morning I spoke at the Louisiana Education Summit about our plan to
reform our schools so that every child has the opportunity to receive a
great education.

The reality is that far too many of our schools are failing and our children
don't have time to wait.  They only grow up once and they have just one shot
to receive a quality education.

That's why we announced a bold reform initiative to provide parents with
more choices, reward effective teachers, and give school leaders more
flexibility with funding and personnel.

At the Education Summit we also played a video that I wanted to share with
you as well.  These are the stories of parents who are taking advantage of
the Scholarship Program and parents who want that same opportunity.  These
are parents with kids trapped in failing schools and just the type of folks
that union leaders are insulting when they say parents have "no clue" how to
educate their children.

Our plan expands the current Scholarship Program statewide for low-income
students in C, D, and F schools - giving many more parents hope that our
schools will not only prepare their kids for success in the classroom, but
success in life.
