St. Bernard Parish's lone Carnival parade will hit the streets this weekend,
with more than 300 riders on 19 floats. The Knights of Nemesis' seventh
annual parade will roll through Chalmette on Saturday at 1 p.m.

This year's route will not travel into Arabi. The parade, which will begin
and end at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center, 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive,
will make U-turns at the intersection near Walmart, just past Dr. Meraux
Boulevard, and at Campagna Drive.

Billy Showalter, a parade organizer, said specialty throws will include
Nemesis T-shirts, medallion beads, cups, spears, footballs and Frisbees.

Knights of Nemesis' 2012 Royal Knight is Ronnie Lehrmann and the Royal
Goddess Nemesis VII is Patricia Picou. St. Bernard Parish Public Schools
Superintendant Doris Voitier will reign as the celebrity guest.

Picou, the wife of founding member Donald J. Picou, has been a resident of
St. Bernard Parish for the past 35 years. A graduate of Cabrini High School,
Picou is employed at Picou Fradella Construction Company. She and her
husband have one son, Donald Picou Jr.

Lehrmann, a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, has been the proprietor
of Lehrmann's Bar and Seafood since 1969. For 20 years, Lehrmann helped host
Operation Merry Christmas, which raises thousands of dollars for needy
children each year. Lehrmann, founder and president of the Chalabi 8 Ball
Pool League that's been in existence for 40 years, has four children, Gwen
Melerine, Heidi Spotorno, Ronnie Lehrmann Jr. and Beth Ann Estopinal, and a
stepson, David Davies.

Formed in May 2004, the Knights of Nemesis prides itself on being an
unconventional carnival club.

According to the group's website, www.knightsofnemesis.org, the krewe is, "A
businessman's social club with the intent to promote business and fellowship
within St. Bernard Parish."

To achieve this goal, socials are held on the second Monday of each month,
rotating the location to different business establishments throughout the
parish.
