St. Bernard Parish plans code enforcement sweep

Arabi, La. - Some Arabi neighborhoods will be the focus of a large-scale
code compliance sweep.

Arabi Park, Carolyn Park and Buccaneer Villa North subdivisions will have
inspectors combing through the area looking for "illegal fences and
accessory structures; illegal or improperly stored travel trailers; blighted
and substandard housing; high grass; illegally stored and/or junk vehicles;
and other violations which adversely impact quality of life for neighborhood
residents."

In a news release the parish noted that Arabi is now sparsely populated
since Hurricane Katrina and the area is ripe for redevelopment.

St. Bernard Parish says this "spring cleaning" is necessary to improve the
quality of life and to continue to push reinvestment in the area.

The code enforcement sweep will happen on Monday, May 14, 2012 and Tuesday,
May, 15, 2012.
