Severe weather, winds cause damage in St. Bernard

ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. -- Firefighters and emergency officials were on the
scene of a possible tornado touchdown in the Arabi area.

St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta said there appears to be a path
with minor damage to between 13 and 15 homes, with some along Chinchilla St.
and Cougar Dr., not far from the government complex.

No injuries are reported.

Peralta said the parish rolled out their road crew within 10 minutes of
reports of a tornado, and a manager of a nearby Home Depot helped bring out
supplies.

"That shows the community effort and community spirit that you have here in
St. Bernard."

A carport was destroyed as well.

Firefighters are surveying the area and doing door-to-door assessments.
