Mosquitos tested in St. Bernard parish free of West Nile virus

Chalmette, La. - St. Bernard Parish reports its efforts to increase mosquito
spraying seem to be paying off.

According to the parish president's office, the latest samples sent to the
LSU Arbovirus Laboratory came up clear of both the West Nile virus and
encephalitis.

Parish officials, however, urge residents to continue to be vigilant about
eliminating standing water around their homes. They also caution people to
continue to use repellants and protect themselves from mosquitos.
