A man wanted for robberies at two pharmacies in which he grabbed money from
cash registers while waiting in check out lines was arrested Tuesday at an
eastern New Orleans pool hall, authorities said.

Christopher Dunbar, 42, was arrested by a U.S. Marshal's Service task force
and was to be booked in New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish with simple
robbery, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Dunbar, of New Orleans, stole money from a cash register on Aug. 6 at a
Walgreens on Elysian Fields Avenue and committed a similar crime two days
later at a Walgreens on Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette, according to St.
Bernard authorities.

After the New Orleans robbery, a witness got the license plate number of the
getaway car, which led to the identification of Dunbar, who is on probation
until 2024 for a past armed robbery conviction, the authorities said.

In both robberies, the supect was in line at the register behind other
customers and forced his way past others to snatch money when the cash
drawer was opened by the clerk, authorities said.

Pohlmann said that in the Chalmette robbery, which occurred about 2:30 a.m.,
a second man was waiting outside the pharmacy and fled with the suspect in
the getaway car. The other man has not been identified.
