Two candidates qualified Wednesday for judgeships in districts that include
St. Bernard Parish.

John L. Weimer, no party, of Thibodeaux qualified for the associate justice
post in the 6th District of the state Supreme Court. Weimer is the
incumbent. The sprawling district includes all or part of 12 parishes,
including St. Bernard Parish and much of south Louisiana excluding Jefferson
and Orleans parishes.

James F. McKay III, a New Orleans Democrat, qualified for an at-large
judge's post on the state 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. He is an incumbent.
The court covers Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.

The elections will be Nov. 6.

Qualifying continues Thursday and concludes Friday.
