After a brief car and foot chase, St. Bernard sheriff's deputies nabbed two
men Friday who they said confessed to committing an armed robbery of a man
they believed to be a drug dealer. Both men were booked on charges of armed
robbery and flight from an officer, said a spokesman for the St. Bernard
Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Jordan Jones, 18, of New Orleans, and Michael Ford, 24, of
Chalmette, robbed a man they thought was a drug dealer around 3 p.m. on
Friday near the area of Stacie Drive and Genie Street in Violet.

Jones allegedly fired a single shot into the air to scare the victim. The
robbers sped off with about $200 in cash.

Hearing the gunshot, a citizen called 911 to report the gunfire and gave a
description of the alleged robbers' car. Sheriff's Capt. Ronnie Martin, who
was nearby, spotted the car and gave chase. The suspects jumped out of their
car and tried to run from the officer, but were soon caught.

In addition to the cash, authorities recovered two guns, one of which had
been reported stolen, the spokesman said. No drugs were recovered, and
deputies found no evidence of drug activity to make any other arrests.

Jones was also booked with possession of a stolen gun.
