Chalmette Refining's Third Annual Fundraiser Benefitting The United Way A
Success

Chalmette Refining's Third Annual Jambalaya Cook-Off or Battle for the
Paddle was another huge success! Teams of one to four employees,
contractors, and retirees (sometimes more) vied for the trophy and the title
"Best Cooks in the Refinery" on October 19th. Lunches were purchased for $8
- all proceeds going to the United Way of Southeast Louisiana. The sale of
lunches and additional donations garnered $3,346.70 for the United Way!

The Judges tasted and graded the Jambalaya of 18 cook teams. And there was
even more excitement in the Judges Room during their deliberations! After
tabulating all of the Judges' scores there was a two-way tie for Third
Place. So the Judges tasted and deliberated even more to break the tie. No
one left the Judges area with an empty stomach!

The community leaders and local chefs acting as Judges for the event were:

. Jerry Graves, St. Bernard Parish Government

. St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann

. Colonel Timothy Chastain, Jackson Barracks Post Commander

. Sergeant Major Greg Wilson, Jackson Barracks

. Jyl Benson, Louisiana Kitchen Magazine

. Terri Sercovich, The St. Bernard Voice

. Angel Thompson, The Times-Picayune

. Kenny Zulli, The St. Bernard Parish Post

. Rusty Vicinovich, Vicinovich's Catering

. Robby Showalter, Former St. Bernard Parish United Way Campaign
Chairman
