St. Bernard Parish Officials Celebrate the Grand Opening of Courthouse
Square

St. Bernard Parish President David E. Peralta and other local, state and
federal officials officially cut the ribbon of Courthouse Square. Joining
in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony were representatives from FEMA, GOHSEP, St.
Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, Councilmembers Guy Mc Innis, Richie Lewis
and Casey Hunnicutt, Judge Perry Nicosia and Assessor-Elect Jaylynn Bergeron
Turner.

The facility, located at 2118 Jackson Boulevard in Chalmette, was funded by
FEMA at a cost $6,000,000.00. F.H. Myers Contractor worked with Engineers
Kyle Associates, LLC and Fauntleroy Latham Weldon Barre Architects to
construct the beautiful facility which houses the Office of the Assessor,
the Office of the District Defender, Sheriff's Support Offices, Sheriff's
Courthouse Holding Cells, State and Parish Parole Office, and the Public
Defender's Office.

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann said the project was a success
because of the relationships between parish government, the Sheriff's Office
and state agencies. He said the Sheriff's Office is very appreciative of
the space and looks forward to utilizing the training facility for about 40
deputies.

Mark Debossier with GOHSEP said he has worked with the parish since
Hurricane Katrina and the projects are accomplished because of the
cooperation from all agencies.

Dwight Butler with FEMA congratulated the parish and said "FEMA is honored
to work closely with St. Bernard on important projects such as this. He
said St. Bernard Parish's success gives hope to other parishes in their
recovery efforts.

President Peralta thanked FEMA and GOHSEP for a great partnership and said
the parish wouldn't be where it is without the help of these two agencies.
He also thanked the following individuals who assisted with the project: St.
Bernard Parish Recovery Manager Donny Bourgeois and the Recovery staff, Doug
Landry, CDMSmith Senior Recovery Administrator; Stacey Danner, CDMSmith
Project Management Firm, Richard Steirwald, St. Bernard Parish Government
Project Manager and Colonel Pete Tufaro, St. Bernard Sheriff's Office
Project Manager.
