Thanksgiving Eve community service Nov. 21 in Chalmette: Keeping the Faith

Carolyn Park Presbyterian Church and Gethsemane Lutheran Church, both in
Chalmette, will host a community wide Thanksgiving eve service Wednesday
Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church
which is located at 2825 Paris Road.

The Rev. Bonnie Parker, pastor of Gethsemane, will preach the sermon for the
gathering. The service will also include music and communion.

"As Christians it's important for us to worship together," Parker said. "And
Thanksgiving is a great time to do this."

And speaking of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, the church's men's group will
hold a community fish fry Sunday Nov. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. Plates are $8
and proceeds from the fish fry will go to Hurricane Isaac and Hurricane
Sandy relief efforts.

Gethsemane Lutheran Church will also begin a series of Advent services
Sunday Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Additional services will be held Dec. 5 and 12.

And with the Christmas season rapidly approaching Gethsemane Lutheran Church
is preparing for a special Christmas worship service Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m.
The service will include the traditional nativity story as well as some "out
of the world" visitors.

Thanksgiving Mass

Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, will
hold a special Thanksgiving Mass, Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22, at 8 a.m.

Live nativity

First Pentecostal Church of Chalmette will hold a live nativity scene Dec 8
from 7 to 9 p.m.

The scene will include shepherds, angels and wise men as well as music
performed by church members. Refreshments will also be served.

The live nativity scene will be held at the church which is located at 2015
Palmisano Blvd., Chalmette. For information call 504.267.0510.
