St. Bernard Parish Government to host the first parish-wide community
meeting for the creation of a Comprehensive Master Plan!

St. Bernard Parish is commencing the public outreach process that will help
forge the basis of the St. Bernard Parish Comprehensive Master Plan. The
first parish-wide community meeting will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at
6:30 PM at the Christian Fellowship Church located at 5816 East Judge Perez
in Violet.

In mid-September of this year, St. Bernard Parish Government began a
12-month process to create its first-ever parish-wide comprehensive master
plan! The Parish obtained a group of consultants, including MIG Winston,
czb, LLC, and Don Poland Consulting, to assist with the project. To date,
the group has begun data collection on market factors and land use. In
October, small "kitchen-table discussions" have been held with various
community groups and stakeholders.

At the first community meeting in December, participants will have the
opportunity to learn more about the existing state-of-the-parish including
the market, Parish finances, land use, and infrastructure. Participants will
also help identify the major issues that the plan needs to address and voice
their opinion about current community trends. Based on this information, the
Parish, its consultants, and participants will begin to frame potential
future growth and development in the parish. Information obtained at the
community meeting will be added to the data collected to-date and will be
used as a foundation for the upcoming plan meetings to be held in the first
half of 2013.

What is a Comprehensive Master Plan?

The comprehensive plan is a guide to decision-making about future growth and
helps prioritize public investments. The plan needs to reflect community
desires for the future and balance those desires with fiscal constraints.
For more information a website has been established where parish residents
can go to find current information about the plan and planning process:
www.stbernardparishcompplan.com.

Why should you become involved?

If the comprehensive plan is to be effective, it must be based on the vision
and values of all parish residents. A community-based plan will encourage a
widely supported plan. Ultimately, the success of the comprehensive master
plan depends upon the will of the parish community, public officials, the
development community, and staff to follow through with its implementation.

Please come to help protect the values and create the future you desire.
