What's more fun than fighting for a parking space at a crowded mall? Is it
standing in a really, really long check-out line? Could it be wading
through hoards of not-so-festive shoppers trying to get the last one of the
most popular Christmas toy ever made? No indeed not! What's more fun that
all of that? It's visiting the St. Bernard Parish Library for its December
Saturday Morning Family Fun Program. On December 15th at 10:30 a.m.
Hobgoblin Hill Puppets will present "Goldilocks Goes to the Wrong House" for
library friends of all ages.

Hobgoblin Hill Puppets is a traveling troupe which began in 1987 and was
founded by Alice Wallace of Youngsville, Louisiana. The birth of Hobgoblin
Hill Puppets dates from the day when Miss Wallace, a teacher in the St.
Martin Parish schools, created her very first puppet, Mr. Punch, the classic
hero of English puppetry. Before long, the company was traveling around the
state with a small theater and a few puppets. The troupe has been
specializing in historic re-creations and improvised children's theater ever
since. Now, approximately two hundred puppets later, and after many travels
and performances around the U.S., Hobgoblin Hill Puppets have been featured
performers at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, Galveston Dickens on the
Strand, Lafayette's Festival International, and the New Orleans Jazz
Festival, just to name a few. Their puppets have performed at Puppeteers of
America conventions in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Washington State. They
perform adult as well as children's shows, including classic plays such as
"Punch and Judy," "Faust," "St. George and the Dragon," and "Dance of
Death."

Hobgoblin Hill Puppets has a unique style of hand-carved and sculpted
puppets in researched historic costumes. Tthe group has brought quality
puppetry to festivals, libraries, museums, schools, parks, zoos, and parties
in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and of course Louisiana. The style of
puppetry of the troupe is a wide variety of humorous or satirical skits
which seem to appeal to adults as well as children.

"Goldilocks Goes to the Wrong House" is a laugh-out-loud show that is sure
to put all those watching in the festive spirit of the holiday season.
Before you head out to finish off those Christmas lists, spend some quality
time with your family and friends enjoying this free program.

Funding for this performance of Hobgoblin Hill Puppets has been provided by
a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural
Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation
with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the St. Tammany
Commission on Cultural Affairs.
