Pearl Harbor bombing memorial service scheduled for Friday in Chalmette

A ceremony to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor will be held Friday in
Chalmette. The Ed Jones Chapter of the the Pearl Harbor Survivors
Association will hold the event at the Pearl River Park at 5601 Parish Road.

Dec. 7 marks the 71st anniversary of the bombing of the U.S. base in Hawaii.
The surprise attack by Japanese forces in 1941 helped push the U.S. into
World War II.

Friday's event begins at 11 a.m. It will include a U.S. Navy Band and Color
Guard, as well as speeches and a wreath-laying.

Pearl River Park in Chalmette sits near Bayou Bienvenue.
