ST. BERNARD TOURIST COMMISSION HOST RE-ENACTORS FOR THE BATTLE OF NEW
ORLEANS

The 198th Battle of New Orleans was commemorated on January 11th and 12th,
2013 at the Chalmette Battlefield. The St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission
hosted a dinner for the 150 living history re-enactors who volunteer their
time to help history come to life at the Chalmette Battlefield. The dinner
was held at Rocky and Carlos Restaurant.

The event draws visitors from across the country and abroad. This year the
total attendance grew to over 5,000 visitors, the best attendance since
2008. The St. Bernard Visitor Center greeted over 600 visitors for the two
day event and the night Skirmish at Packenham Oaks hosted by St. Bernard
Parish Government drew close to 500 visitors. Special guests to the dinner
this year were former Congressman Henson Moore and Parish President David
Peralta.
