CHALMETTE CHOSEN AS VENUE TO HOST TWO PROFESSIONAL REDFISH TOURNAMENTS IN
MARCH

 

St. Bernard Parish Government will be the host sponsor for two professional
Redfish Tournaments in March. On March 8th - 10th the IFA Pro-Am Redfish
Challenge presented by Cabela's, has announced a full field for the
inaugural event at the Gulf Outlet Marina in Chalmette, Louisiana.  The
tournament series, which features a 3-day format, pairs some of the best
professional inshore anglers with co-anglers in a high-stakes, made-for-TV
competition.  "From the moment the new Pro-Am series was announced, we've
been blown away by the amount of positive feedback we've received from
anglers," said IFA Marketing Director Bart Schad.  "The Chalmette event
filled so quickly, we really encourage those interested in fishing the final
Punta Gorda event to act fast when registration opens."  

 

With over-100-percent cash payout guaranteed, the tournament series will
feature two events in 2013:  In Chalmette on March 8-10 and Punta Gorda, FL
on October 4-6.  Both events will be limited to a field size of
approximately 25 pros and co-anglers and will feature a minimum guaranteed
payout of $55,000 on the pro-side, including $25,000 for first place.  The
event will be broadcast to over 120 million combined TV households on NBC
Sports Outdoors, Pursuit Channel, MAVTV, the Texas Channel and the World
Fishing Network.  Drawing inshore anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and
beyond, the IFA Redfish Tour is the largest and oldest redfish tour in the
nation.  

 

On March 20th - 23rd the HT Professional Redfish Series sponsored by Academy
Sports and Outdoors is an invitational only tournament series and will
include the top 40 saltwater teams in the country competing in 5 events
along the Gulf coast.  All events are shown on the World Fishing Network, a
nationally broadcast network.  The event will be at the Gulf Outlet Marina
in Chalmette with the final weigh-in at the Louisiana Crawfish Festival on
Saturday, March 23rd.  As an extra event just before the pro's weigh-in you
can enjoy watching the always popular President's Cup Challenge Tournament
weigh- in at the Crawfish Festival on Saturday.

 

The combined economic impact for St. Bernard Parish from these two
tournaments in 2012 was approximately $200,000 from angler spending not
including over a million dollars in free National TV coverage on fishing in
St. Bernard Parish.
