It was the key to their undoing. A Chalmette couple left behind their
apartment key when they burglarized a bar, and the key led authorities to
them, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

Robert J. Clark III, 35, and Jaime Schlosser, 37, both of 2004 Culotta St.,
Apt. B, were booked with burglary Wednesday and released on $10,000 bond.

The break-in happened Jan. 31 around 2 a.m. at a bar on Judge Perez Drive.
The pair allegedly took several cartons of cigarettes and apparently left
behind the key, with a green cord attached, on the floor near a pool table,
according to Steve Cannizaro, a Sheriff's Office spokesman.

During the investigation Detective Sgt. Donald Johnson developed information
that pointed to the couple as suspects. Authorities also confirmed that the
key found at the scene opened their apartment door, Cannizaro said.
Clark and Schlosser denied involvement in the break-in, authorities said.
