ARC PRESENTS ITS COMMUNITY CALENDAR

 

Arc of GNO's Chalmette Center recently mapped out its community calendar
with service projects and fundraisers from bead recycling to a new "Junque
in the Trunk" outdoor garage sale. 

 

Mardi Gras beads are needed to fill up our bead recycling bins. Stop by the
Chalmette Center at 3700 Jean Lafitte Pkwy any work day. Our two local Gulf
Coast bank locations can receive bead donations. 4H Clubs at Arabi
Elementary, Chalmette Elementary and Lacoste Elementary along with CF Rowley
will be holding bead drive contests as well. Beads are used in a unique
enterprise system where Arc members are paid to work alongside community
volunteers to sort beads for sale to future parade riders. Go green and
support employment opportunities for Arc adults.

 

Monday, February 25th is Arc of GNO day at Raising Canes from 10am-10pm here
in Chalmette. Mention Arc's name when you place your order and Arc will
receive a percentage of the sale. Funds raised will be used toward the
renovation of Sterling Hall, a multi-purpose building at the Chalmette site.


 

Wednesday, February 27th is Arc of GNO day at Whole Foods at the uptown and
Metairie locations. Save your special grocery shopping for this day and meet
Arc staff at the check-out registers. Arc of GNO will receive a percentage
of the day's sales. 

 

Thursday, February 28th Arc of GNO's Chalmette Center will host a blood
drive for the Blood Center from 11:00am-5:00pm. Donors are encouraged to to
donate blood for a sweatshirt or family coverage. Arc's Aktion Club will
work the canteen area. Donors are encouraged to bring Mardi Gras beads as
well. Join us in giving much needed blood and recycling your beads and
receive a free tour of the center and gardens.

Every day until March 4th please VOTE for Arc of Greater New Orleans! Gulf
Coast Bank is awarding a total of $50,000 to 10 local charities.

Other community activities include hosting an activity booth at Special
Olympics in March, feeding volunteers at the annual United Way Day of Caring
in April and organizing the largest outdoor garage sale in the parish with a
unique "Junque in the Trunk" fundraising event on Saturday, May 11th.  Watch
