Parish President David Peralta announces HMGP Home Elevation Program
dedicating

$10 Million to Raise FEMA-Targeted Flood Prone Houses

St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta announced the creation of the
Parish Government's Home Elevation Program with $10,000,000.00 of HMGP funds
that will raise houses identified by FEMA that habitually flood. "My
administration has applied a comprehensive approach to minimize property
damage due to potential flooding and now we are able to move forward to
assist homeowners with risk reductions measures for their structures," said
Peralta. "The Parish's Home Elevation Program is intended to help qualified
residents raise their structures to the current FEMA Base Flood Elevation
(BFE)."

The Parish's Hazard Mitigation Office has started sending out letters and
informational packets to property owners whose structures have been
identified by FEMA as "repetitive loss" or "severe repetitive loss"
structures based upon National Flood Insurance Program claims, as well as
past property owners who have shown an interest in the program. Documents
related to the Parish Home Elevation program and applications have been
posted on the Parish Government website (www.sbpg.net) under the HMGP Office
link.
