Entergy shut down power to some customers in Arabi and Chalmette on Tuesday
night (March 19) due to needed repairs after copper conductor wire was
stolen from the utility's Arabi substation. About 3,100 costumers lost power
- many for only a few minutes but some for as long as an hour - after
Entergy instituted the power outage in order to replace the conductor wire,
according to an Entergy spokesperson.

About 2 p.m. Monday afternoon (March 18), Entery reported the stolen wire to
the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office. According to that police report,
copper wire was cut off 200 poles at the substation.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
