2013 Art In April Festival to be held at Docville Farm

 

 

St. Bernard's annual Art in April Festival will celebrate its sixteenth
anniversary on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 11:00am-5:00pm at Docville Farm
in Meraux. The sprawling pecan trees, horses and quaint red barns along the
Mississippi River levee will provide the perfect backdrop for this family
friendly art & garden fest.

 

Grammy's pralines, Charlie's jambalaya & pasta, fresh salsa & chips, bacon
filled sausage, double chocolate brownies, snowballs and more will please
your palate out on the patio.

 

Marble painting, seed planting, coloring pages, butterfly wings, caricature
artists, and cupcake decorating in the "Little Red Barn" will entertain your
children. Frank Levy will perform at 2:00pm and Uncle Wayne at 3:00pm. All
children's activities are free. Friends of the Animal Shelter will have
puppies for adoption.

 

Fabulous local artists and crafters will sell handmade jewelry, hand creams,
children's dresses & bows, door hangers, refinished furniture, birdhouses,
hand-painted slates & canvasses, LSU memorabilia, 3-D concrete art,
t-shirts, photography, candles and cookbooks in the big barn. Look for
garden displays and demonstrations on the porch.

 

The event kicks off at 11:00am with the singing of the National Anthem
followed by a Sweet 16 Happy Birthday song and cake cutting. Flour Power
will provide an exact replica of the cake seen on this year's festival
poster designed by Art Guild member Elaine Hodges. The original artwork will
be raffled and signed & numbered prints will also be sold to benefit the
annual scholarship program.

1:30pm The Regenerations Band

3:30pm The Dana Abbott Band

 

Take a trip down our San Bernardo National Scenic By-way through the
historic oak grove onto the grounds of Docville Farm for the most memorable
Art in April yet...see you Saturday!
