St. Bernard Parish Government moving forward with demolition of vacant,
storm damaged structures

St. Bernard Parish Government has begun efforts to raze vacant, storm
damaged structures that pose a threat to public health and safety. The
parish's Resident Inspectors identified such structures and notified
property owners that they must bring the property into compliance. A number
of the structures had been on the condemnation list since the previous
Administration and have remained storm damaged to the degree that said
structures continue to pose a menace to public health and safety. President
Peralta said the houses will be demolished only after notification to
property owners who have done little to repair abandoned houses. The
demolitions are being funded by FEMA.
