We're digging a little deeper into summer reading at the St. Bernard Parish
Library as we move into our second week of activities. 'Muddy Buddies' is
the theme for the story programs being held on Tuesday, June 11th at 1 p.m.
and 5:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Participants will help bring
to life Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Rud by Lynne Plourde and we'll
all get down and dirty with Jeff Foxworthy's poem, 'Dirt on My Shirt'.

Library fun continues throughout the week with a free karate demonstration
presented by St. Bernard's newly opened Just For Kicks Karate School. The
demonstration is set for Thursday, June 13th at 11:30 a.m.

Rounding out the week will be the library's Fridays with the Arts program
set for June 14th at 2:30 p.m. Visiting St. Bernard Parish for the very
first-time will be Farmer Minor and Daisy the Pig. Daisy and Farmer Minor
have performed "Pig Out on Reading" programs across the U.S. for over 10
years and as of April 2009, Daisy II has taken over as the "World's Most
Famous Pig", already having been filmed for Belgian National TV and featured
in newspapers and TV across the U.S. Library friends of all ages are
invited to 'ham it up' during this free hour-long program. Funding for this
program is provided by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts,
Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and
Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered
by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs.

Readers are invited to stop by the library to sign up for their summer
reading activity sheets. Pre-readers through adults are eligible to read
for prizes sponsors such as Audubon Nature Institute, Chalmette Movies, J &
M Jewelers, Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard-Arabi, Louisiana Children's Museum,
McDonald's, National WWII Museum , New Orleans Paddlewheels, Pets Plus,
Raising Cane's, and Tony's Po-Boy Restaurant.

For more information, please stop by the library at 2600 Palmisano Blvd. in
Chalmette or call the library at 504-279-0448. Patrons can "like" the
