St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man suspected in a
Hollygrove triple drive-by shooting on Tuesday after they say the friend he
was staying with turned him in. Jerrold Smith, 33, has been transferred to
Orleans Parish prison after St. Bernard deputies arrested him at a friend's
Chalmette apartment on Wednesday morning.

According to a St. Bernard Sheriff's Office news release, the friend Smith
had been staying with called police on Wednesday about 3:30 a.m. and
reported him. Smith's friend told police he had advised Smith to turn
himself in, but he was still at the apartment in the 7900 block of Patricia
Street when police arrived.

Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Hollygrove Road on Tuesday at
6:10 p.m, where three men were shot in what witnesses described as a
drive-by shooting. Police have yet to release information about the three
victims, but two were identified by a witness as Raymond Miles and Shannon
Davenport.

The Sheriff's Office said that, when arrested, Smith listed his home address
as 920 Green St. in New Orleans, but that he had clothing at and appeared to
be living at the apartment in Chalmette.

Smith was transferred to New Orleans police on Wednesday and taken into
custody at Orleans Parish Prison. St. Bernard Sheriff's deputies found a
Glock magazine containing bullets in the apartment where Smith was arrested.
