Bill Payment Assistance Available to Entergy Louisiana Customers in Need
Federal government releases last of LIHEAP funds to help pay utility bills
Just in time for the hottest part of the year, the
federal government has released $2.4 million in funds to help low-income
Louisianans pay their utility bills.
The money is available through the Low Income Home
Energy Assistance Program, which provides home heating and cooling aid to
qualified families, including Entergy's Louisiana utility customers.
The funds were held back as part of the government's
sequestration efforts, but are now available to help struggling customers.
In Louisiana, that amounts to $2.4 million in newly-available LIHEAP
dollars.
To apply for LIHEAP aid, contact your local
community action agency. Agency contact information is available at
http://entergy-louisiana.com/your_home/help.aspx. Entergy provides all
customers a variety of payment and money-saving options at
entergysavings.com/.
"Every day, low-income customers living in the
regions Entergy serves struggle to make ends meet in states with some of the
highest poverty rates in the nation," said Molly Buckley, customer service
manager. "With summer heat come increased utility bills. This adds
additional strain on low-income budgets. Entergy is working to ensure
customers are aware that assistance is available through LIHEAP funding."
LIHEAP assists qualified families with home energy
needs such as heating in the winter, cooling in the summer and insulating
homes for energy efficiency. LIHEAP allows families to prevent electrical
service interruptions and make weather-related improvements to their homes
to maximize the effectiveness of the electricity needed to stay safe and
comfortable.
Entergy's Louisiana utility companies serve more
than one million customers through the operating companies Entergy
Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. With operations in
southern, central and northeastern Louisiana, the companies are part of
Entergy Corporation's electric system serving 2.8 million customers in
Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas.
