After their third alleged dollar-store theft attempt in 30 minutes, three
New Orleans men were arrested on Wednesday in St. Bernard Parish.

Calvin Aguillard, 32, Wayne Glasper, 33, and Michael Whitfield, 37,
allegedly fled a dollar store in Meraux on Wednesday after unsuccessfully
attempting to steal some of its merchandise. About 20 minutes later, they
successfully stole $578 in items from a similar store in east Chalmette.

But, the third time was not the charm for the trio. During their apparent
third attempt at a dollar store in west Chalmette about 10 minutes later,
St. Bernard sheriff's deputies apprehended them.

Each of the men was booked on Wednesday with one count of felony shoplifting
and one count of attempted misdemeanor shoplifting, according to the St.
Bernard Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann said the stolen merchandise, much of it cleansers,
detergents and bleach, was recovered in a vehicle parked near their arrest.

The three men also are suspects in several other recent shoplifting
incidents in New Orleans and St. Bernard, Pohlmann said.
