VALERO PARTNERS WITH ST. BERNARD PARISH AND COMMUNITY IN LACOSTE COMMUNITY
GARDENS

 

On Saturday, August 31, 37 Valero volunteers, including family members,
partnered with representatives of St. Bernard Parish and St. Bernard
community members in constructing and filling 14 community gardens in the
Lacoste neighborhood. 

 

As a result of the hard work and dedication of all those who volunteered,
the Lacoste Community Garden, a project of St. Bernard's Parks & Parkways
Commission, has been built. Now, the neighbors surrounding the garden,
located at 3213 Mumphrey Road in Chalmette, can begin growing vegetables,
fruit and flowers. The Lacoste Community Garden was developed at the request
of area residents living on Mumphrey St. and Charles Dr.  

 

Rediscover District C, a non-profit organization, worked with the residents
to develop and guide this project through the approval process. RDC is the
sponsoring organization for the residents and worked closely with St.
Bernard Parish Government to obtain the rights to use the vacant property
for this project. 

 

Funding for this project was made possible by generous donations from our
