A St. Bernard Parish man was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshal's Service
in connection with the shooting of his cousin after an argument, according
to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

Dalvin Major, 18, of Violet, allegedly shot his cousin, Dominique Johnson,
23, twice -- once in the lower torso and once in the thigh -- on the night
of Aug. 31 on a street in Violet. Major then stole Johnson's wallet and fled
St. Bernard, authorities said.

Major was being held in New Orleans on Monday pending his transfer to the
St. Bernard Parish Prison, St. Bernard Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann said. Major
has past drug and gun charge arrests, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Johnson, also of Violet, was hospitalized after the shooting. Johnson
allegedly identified Major as the assailant, according to the Sheriff's
Office.
