Chalmette Monument Rededication & Return to 1815 Living History Day

Saturday, September 28th



Monument Rededication Ceremony 10:30 a.m.



Join the National Park Service and the Chalmette Chapter, United States
Daughters of 1812 to rededicate Chalmette Monument in honor of the men who
fought at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. Speeches, presentation of the

monument key, music by the US Marine Corps Brass Quintet,, and a musket
salute.



Return to 1815 Living History Day noon-3:00 p.m.



Meet civilians and troops in period dress. Walk through a military
encampment, play old-fashioned games, watch campfire cooking demonstrations,
or talk with the 1815-era ladies and gentlemen of the Premier Creole
Society. Join the

Louisiana Vintage Dancers for period dancing or enlist in a cannon crew for
an artillery drill. A War of 1812 army recruiter will be on hand seeking
soldiers to join the American cause. Chalmette Battlefield Jean Lafitte
National Historical Park & Preserve, 8606 West St. Bernard Highway,
