The CDC statement in an NBC News report is about this specific, deadly amoeba COLONIZING a treated-water system.

“We have never seen Naegleria colonizing a treated water supply before,” said Dr. Michael Beach, head of water safety for the CDC. “From a U.S. perspective this is a unique situation.”

COLONIZING
So, lets get the information and assistance we need for a permanent solution; does that mean all water pipes in all structures should be flushed? what about hot water heaters? What are the first symptoms of infection and which treatment was successfully used recently on the child who survived? Which regional hospitals are equipped to test and treat for this infection? and so on.

>MYTH: Naegleria fowleri was not found in the St. Bernard water system

because water samples were taken from fire hydrants.

FACT: The CDC has confirmed the presence of Naegleria fowleri from samples taken directly from the water system in four different locations in separate areas of the parish, in addition to inside the home where the child who died this summer visited. DHH scientists pulled samples from hydrants and faucets that connected directly to the water lines<

Now I think the parish prez (or was it Groby?) had a response to that:
