Saint Bernard Parish Household Waste Recycling Event Scheduled

for Sunday, October 20th

Residents Can Dispose of Broken or Unused Electronic Equipment and Leftover
Latex and Oil-Based Paint for Free

Saint Bernard Parish Government will hold its second annual "Household Waste
Recycling" event on Sunday, October 20th at the Aycock Barn in Arabi from
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The barn is located at 409 Aycock Street, Arabi.

The recycling event was scheduled to coincide with the New Orleans Saints'
bye weekend. "This is a continuation of 'green' endeavors launched by my
administration to promote environmental responsibility," said Saint Bernard
Parish President David Peralta.

"Certain household items have the potential to contaminate the environment
if they are simply thrown in the trash. Events such as this will ensure
that household products that contain contaminating elements will be
responsibly disposed," said Peralta.

The following examples of e-waste will be accepted: televisions, stereos,
computers, copies, cell phones and FAX machines. Latex paint is considered
in "good recyclable condition" if it has not solidified. Oil-based paint
will be accepted in half gallon or greater quantities. No industrial or
specialty purpose paints will be accepted.

There is no charge for dropping off the aforementioned items at the
recycling event. The event is being held in conjunction with The Green
Project, CACRC and Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
