St. Bernard Parish holds Veterans' Ceremony

Veterans treated to breakfast at Rocky & Carlos

Veterans gathered for a Veterans' Recognition Ceremony at the Veterans
Monument in front of the Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette today. Lieutenant
Colonel Kenneth Copple, Deputy Post Commander at Jackson Barracks, was the
guest speaker at the event.

The ceremony included patriotic music provided by the Chalmette High School
Band, the ROTC Color Guard, and the singing of the National Anthem by parish
employee Melissa Karter. Bonnie Cook of the Francois deLery Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution, who helped with the development of the
monument, read the names of the Veterans as they stood in in honor at the
monument by the military branch they served in.

After the ceremony, veterans were treated to breakfast at Rocky & Carlos in
Chalmette.
