Meetings are a good start. I cant tell you how many meetings residents have
attended with state officials on other issues, voicing concerns, only to
have the state continue the status quo.

sometimes you need to take decisive action and be uncompromising.

"Our communities have been voicing a lot of concerns, but we're having no
luck going through the normal mechanisms with the CPRA [Coastal Protection
and Restoration Authority]," Cavignac said. "Hopefully this is one way to
tell them [the Legislature] that we are really concerned about this."

Only a few months ago State Rep. Ray Garofalo arranged a meeting between
CPRA and state officials with the general public. It was standing room
only. For over three hours state officials, including Garrett Graves, who
oversee the master plan, listened to every concern stated. Anyone and
everyone who wanted to speak or ask questions was given the opportunity.
Where was Cavignac during this meeting? Maybe he should have showed and he
would have known such a meeting already took place.
