Goodwill returns to St. Bernard Parish at a new location

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana has returned to Chalmette,
opening its 18th retail store and donation center at 3200 Paris Road, Park
Plaza Shopping Center, next to Winn Dixie. Goodwill representatives were
joined by Parish President David Peralta, Sheriff James Pohlmann, State
Representative Ray Garofalo, St. Bernard Chamber President Jerry Calcagno
and Chamber Director Stephen Reuther for the occasion with a ribbon cutting
ceremony at 8:45 a.m.

The new store features a convenient donation drive thru and an 8,000 square
foot retail sales floor, offering customers a large selection of high
quality, low cost books, household items, furniture, and clothing for the
entire family. Goodwill also provides home donation pickup service by
appointment by calling 504-234-6324. Some restrictions apply. Goodwill lost
its original Chalmette store to fire in 1995 and a second store was
critically damaged due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The store and donation center hours will be Monday through Saturday from
9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m. Every day,
Goodwill accepts donations of gently used clothing, accessories, household
items, books, furniture, small appliances, electronics, computers, and
computer related equipment.

The Chalmette Store will employ approximately 20 individuals, the majority
of whom live in Saint Bernard Parish. For more information about Goodwill
Industries of Southeastern Louisiana, visit www.goodwillno.org or call
