St. Bernard Hospital CEO tries to sell Parish Council on hospital
millage's
merits

"The hospital can continue to operate without it. Naturally, without
it there will not be the
ability to acquire all of the specialists needed to be a full
service
hospital, and cause years of time in order to generate funds to
slowly
develop the hospital into a full service facility."

I read the press release that was released along with this article.

Wayne is talking about expanding the hospital or the capabilities of it

to include being able to do procedures such as open-heart surgeries.

That was not the way the hospital was presented to us. It was designed as
(quoting from the
website):

**The 113,000 square foot state-of-the-art hospital facility supports 40
patient beds, an intensive care unit (ICU), 4 operating suites, 2 endoscopy
suites, cardiac catheter lab, plus a 10-bed emergency department.**

It's supposed to be a small, community hospital, certainly not a hospital
where a C.A.B.G. procedure would be performed and certainly not a "full
service facility".

I think this plan is taking the hospital way beyond what it was intended to
be.
