[StBernard] Bus Transportation For Private School Students

HB 358 by Rep. Joe Harrison is a bill to limit bus transportation for private school students in Terrebonne Parish.

The public school board would no longer have to provide free transportation for any student attending a nonpublic school if either the cost incurred or the distance traveled exceeds that for providing transportation for students attending public schools.

That description covers approximately half of our students and of course their families. They will have to drive their child or children to school every day.

As parents we pay taxes for public schools too. We expect SOMETHING from our Public School Boards in return.

If this bill gets out of committee our opponents will attempt to amend it on the House floor and push for ending bus transportation for private school students STATEWIDE.

Please use Voter Voice and contact the members of the House Education Committee to let them know that this bad bill must die a quick death. It is coming up for a vote on Wednesday morning, March 19th.
