UNO and Nunez Sign Articulation Agreement in Business Administration

(March 24, 2014, New Orleans, La.)- An articulation agreement between the
University of New Orleans and Nunez Community College will allow Nunez
students to transfer into programs in the College of Business Administration
at UNO.

UNO President Peter J. Fos and Nunez Chancellor Thomas R. Warner
participated in a signing ceremony today at UNO's Lakefront campus. The
agreement will facilitate course transfer from Nunez's business programs
into UNO's undergraduate programs in accounting; business administration;
finance; hotel, restaurant and tourism administration; management; and
marketing.

Nunez students will now be able to transfer between 40 and 43 credit hours
of general education courses and between 15 and 18 credit hours of other
required courses, depending on the selected degree program. UNO agrees to
accept these associate degree credits into its bachelor's degree programs.
"Agreements such as this improve educational access and
attainment for students in the metropolitan area," said UNO President Peter
J. Fos. "We are pleased to be collaborating with Nunez to achieve these
important objectives."

"This articulation agreement is a fantastic example of how local
institutions can work together for the benefit of our students, who then go
forward and use their advanced education and training to further develop our
workforce," said Annette Accomando, Nunez vice chancellor of academic and
student affairs.

In order to successfully transfer to UNO, Nunez students must maintain a
minimum 2.25 overall grade point average and have earned at least 24 hours
of transferrable credit as well as completed a college-level math and
English course. Students can earn up to 58 credit hours from Nunez toward
the 120 credit hours required for a bachelor's degree at UNO.

In addition to the Louisiana Transfer Degree with a focus on
business, Nunez offers associate degrees in accounting; business
administration; entrepreneurship; hospitality, restaurant, and tourism
(HRT); and medical office management. In August 2012, Nunez received $2.76
million dollars from the U.S. Department of Labor's Trade Adjustment
Assistance Community College and Career grant to implement a redesigned
business administration degree and new entrepreneurship and HRT degrees.
