St. Bernard Irish Italian Islenos Parade gets ready to roll April 6

The 13th annual St. Bernard Irish Italian Islenos Parade will be held April
6 in Chalmette. Marchers begin at 11 a.m. and floats roll at noon. The
parade will feature 46 Blaine Kern floats, and more than 30 marching units
and groups. Riders will toss more than 300,000 pounds of produce such as
cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions, lemons, limes, and other fruit.

Timmy and Judge Jeanne Juneau will reign as king and queen. Senator David
Vitter is the grand marshal.

The Juneaus have been married for 17 years. They have two children, Ashlyn,
11, and Braden, 8 who will serve as in the parade as maid and duke,
respectively. Timmy is a respiratory therapist. He is a Chalmette High
graduate. He enjoys spending time with his children, fishing and hunting.
Timmy also is a St. Jude sponsor.

Jeanne Nunez Juneau was recently elected as the first female judge for the
34th Judicial District Division B Court of St. Bernard. The daughter of Rita
Serigne Nunez and Randolph "Randy" Nunez, Jeanne was raised in Reggio.

Jeanne also is a St. Jude sponsor, Wounded Warrior sponsor, volunteer for
the Youth Rescue Initiative, a member of Kiwanis, and a board member for St.
Bernard's Council on Aging. Jeanne also is a guest speaker at Tulane
University and is on the Professionalism Panel at Loyola University School
of Law.

Jeanne was educated at St. Louise de Marillac before attending Mount Carmel
Academy. She attended Loyola University where she studied communications and
psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994. At Loyola Law School,
Jeanne served on Moot Court and wrote for the Loyola Poverty Law Journal.
She became a member of the Student Bar Association and finished law school
with honors in 1997. Later that year, she was admitted to the bar.

Jeanne enjoys spending time with her children, traveling with her daughter
for dance competitions, watching her son play various sports, and working
out.

Vitter was selected grand marshal for the crucial role it keeping people
informed of the dangers of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet and worked to
close it to help protect the residents of St. Bernard Parish, parade
officials said. Vitter also has continued to work with FEMA to forgive
Community Disaster Loans from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Isaac.

Princesses are Marie Abba, Grace Bell, MacKenzie Bonvillian, Alayna
Cantrell, Adria Cease, Olivia Dornan, Gabrielle Eschette, Taylor Gelvin,
Emilie Gentry, Lyndsey Johnson, Madison Lewis, Allie Michon, Emily O'Neil,
Alieha Pacaccio, Hannah Robino, Tabatha Serpas, Danee Smith, Madison Smith,
Meghan St. Angelo, Mattie Turnage, and Emily Zepeda.

The parade can no longer travel to Arabi because the St. Bernard Parish
Hospital has only once entrance, which cannot be blocked.
