CHS Voices presents Broadway Review "Glitter and Gloves 2014"

March 24, 2014- St. Bernard, LA, Chalmette High School's chorus CHS Voices
is proud to announce the performance of its Broadway review show titled
Glitter and Gloves. Evening performances at 7PM, Thursday - Saturday, April
10 - 12, and a matinee performance at 2PM, Sunday, April 13, 2014.

This performance marks the third annual Glitter and Gloves gala for CHS
Voices and its third year of residence at Chalmette High School's Cultural
Arts Center located at 2600 Palmisano Blvd., Chalmette, LA 70043. The
theater boasts 426 seats, an orchestra pit, and a special effects production
stage with lighting and sound. This year's production will also feature
theatrical flight choreography directed by Assistant Director Arianna Cassar
and ZFX Flying Effects.

CHS Voices talented chorus is 40 singers strong and will feature numerous
Chalmette students from both the vocal music program as well as the Tech
Crew. The production promises to submerge audience members in the glitz and
grandeur of New York, NY as the cast brings to life an array of popular
favorites ranging from musicals of Broadway's golden era to the latest Tony
Award winning shows.

The Glitter and Gloves Gala was launched in order to enhance the educational
experience for Chalmette High School's Choir CHS Voices. Many of the
program's singers have interests in pursuing further opportunities in this
division of the performing arts. As a result, the CHS Voices artistic team,
led by Music Director Annelise Cassar, aims to launch a show that is diverse
in genre and style and that also allows students to study and develop
multiple skill sets utilized throughout the performing arts. Experience,
showcase opportunities for the talented students, and a vehicle to provide
St. Bernard's theatre-loving community with a taste of Broadway is what
Cassar and her merry band seek to achieve.

Working in the costume shop of the Chalmette Cultural Arts Theater, juniors
Brittany Calecas, performing as "Bert" from Mary Poppins, and Michaela
Kramer, leading the rendition of "Roxie" from Chicago, reflected on how the
program has grown in the short tenure of its existence. "It's incredible how
far we have come. The show now has over 364 costume pieces and a set that
grows by the day; our singing is stronger than ever and the dancing . . .
well, you just have to see us in action!" Kramer also comments, "In addition
to the efforts of the students involved, it is so wonderful to build a
second family here at school. The efforts and generosity of our small group
of parent volunteers, teachers and businessmen like Mr. Spangenberg of the
scenic design studio really make us feel like there are people in the
community who are rooting for us to succeed. "
