'Creating the Cuisine of New Orleans' is topic of lecture at Nunez Community
College in Chalmette

Nunez Community College in Chalmette will continue its 13th season of its
History Lecture Series on April 7 with the seventh lecture, titled "Creating
the Cuisine of New Orleans: The Myth and the Reality."

Liz Williams, the President and Director of the Southern Food and Beverage
Museum, will discuss the development of a cuisine in New Orleans. Unlike so
many cities, which have signature dishes, New Orleans has a cuisine all its
own, Williams said.

Anyone who has a personal theory about this in invited to attend the lecture
and share in the discussion and discover the real story behind the rich
diversity of foods that are distinctly New Orleans.

A wine and cheese reception begins at 6:30 p.m. with the lecture beginning
at 7 p.m. in the Nunez Auditorium.

The Nunez History Lecture Series is a series of free lectures held at the
college. The series was created to provide a cultural opportunity, to
explore the rich heritage of the area, and to take a small step in offering
St. Bernard the advantages of being a "college town" with Nunez Community
College at the center. Lectures are free and open to the public.
