CHALMETTE, La. - Deputies found a 19-year-old inmate dead Tuesday in the St.
Bernard Parish Prison, according to Sheriff James Pohlmann.

Pohlmann said the woman was unresponsive on the floor of her cell at about 8
a.m. Deputies later pronounced her dead.

According to the sheriff's office, it's not clear what may have caused the
inmate's death. They hope to have more answers after an autopsy is
completed.
The inmate, who was arrested March 21 after a disturbance at a home, hasn't
been identified.
