Nunez PTEC Department Hosts Career Fair




The Process Technology (PTEC) Department of Nunez's Industrial Maintenance
Program held its annual Career Fair on Thursday, April 3rd in the Physical
Activity building on the Nunez Campus.

Local industry partners including Air Products, Domino Sugar, Entergy, Exxon
Mobil, Intralux, Laitram, Motiva Enterprises, Murphy Oil Corporation,
Phillips 66 Conoco 76, Shell, and Valero Meraux Refinery participated,
offered industry insight to future process technicians. Some companies also
offered job placement opportunities and detailed information about their
distinct products and company practices. Don Hoffman, Director of Technology
Programs, says 74%, or at least seven out of every ten Nunez PTEC students,
are placed in jobs with Nunez industry partners.

The PTEC program is the area's only Process Technology program. Endorsed by
the North American Process Technology Alliance (NAPTA) and accredited by
ATMAE, the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering,
and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the program
prepares students for in-demand, high-paying operating careers in
process-based industries including chemical; food and beverage; oil
exploration and production; power generation; pulp and paper; refining; and,
waste water treatment.

Nunez offers real-life training for process operators with its distillation
training plant which was built in partnership with Tulane University's
Chemical Engineering Program. Currently, Nunez has ongoing dual-enrollment
programs at four high schools in St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and Orleans
parishes.
