It's spring time which means it's time to bring back the Yard of the Month
campaign. This will be one of several topics addressed when the Old Arabi
Neighborhood Association hosts its next meeting.

The meeting will take place on April 16 at 7 p.m. at The Gathering 7625 St.
Bernard Highway in Arabi. Mike Pechon, OANA President will give an update on
the organization and its plans for a spring social, taking place at the
newly opened 40 Arpent Brewing Company.

Carl Doescher, one of the partners of 40 Arpent will be on hand to talk
about the brewery's progress and plans for the future He will also solicit
input from the group about hosting other events.

Representatives from Good Eggs, a company that delivers fresh produce and
groceries from local farmers and food makers, will also address OANA
members. The Good Egg model has been a success in San Francisco and
Brooklyn, and hopes to do well in the New Orleans and Arabi area as well
with hits home deliveries.

Councilman Ray Lauga will also provide an update on the Old Arabi
streetscape project as well as other topics affecting the district. Debbie
and Mitch Smith of the Arabi Food Store will provide the refreshments while
Matt Woodward of The Gathering will serve as the host for the evening.

Neighbors are encouraged to attend the meeting and join the OANA. Annual
dues are only $20 and will guarantee you a spot at all of the social events.

In other Arabi news, congratulations to Arabi residents and local performers
Cursten Smith and Josh Michel for their involvement in "The Altos," the
murder mystery show that played to sold out audiences for the last several
weeks at Rocky and Carlos Restaurants.

Not only did these two talented young people serve as members of the tech
crew (along with Chalmette resident Nikki Lopez) running lights and sound,
but they also created characters and interacted with the crowd as
performers. Nice job.
