A Violet man was arrested on 15 burglary charges, mostly vehicle burglaries,
and he admitted to many of the crimes under questioning, St. Bernard Parish
Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann said on Wednesday.

Corey Campbell, 38, of the 3300 block of Angelique Drive, was being held in
St. Bernard Parish Prison on Wednesday in lieu of a $125,000 bond. He had
been on probation for a past burglary when he was arrested in relation to
the new incidents.

Campbell was arrested on April 4 in connection with 13 vehicle burglaries,
two house burglaries, a debit card fraud and a theft stretching back to
December 2013, Pohlmann said.

Detectives were searching for the man responsible for smashing several
vehicles' windows in the parish to gain entry, but it was the theft of a
purse last month that led authorities to Campbell, Pohlmann said. The
sheriff said that Campbell tried using a debit card that was in the purse,
which helped lead to his capture.
