Not all ethanol is made from corn, there are various plants that it can be
made from. I also believe there are other forms of ethanol other than
cellulosic, but I don't have time to research it for a proper answer.

I do know they are looking at various feedstock to produce ethanol and
trying to determine which one makes the most economic sense, not only in
terms of producing the feedstock but also in terms of refining it. In the
perfect world, the feedstock would be a waste product, such as bagass left
over sugar cane refining, and would need minimal resources to refine into
ethanol.

That hasn't been found yet.

Instead of letting market forces determine which is the best bang/buck that
consumers are willing to buy, the Federal government is picking and choosing
the winners and losers for us.
