'Discovering Louisiana' is topic of lecture at Nunez Community College in
Chalmette

Nunez Community College will continue its History Lecture Series May 5. The
13th season of the series with feature the eighth lecture, "Discovering
Louisiana," at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium in Chalmette.

Ron Chapman, Professor of History at Nunez Community College,a published
author, and a popular lecturer, will discuss the people and politics that
were involved in the Spanish and French explorations of the area that would
become Louisiana. Chapman recently received the Spirit of 1812 Award from
the National Society United States Daughters of 1812.

A wine and cheese reception begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Nunez History Lecture Series is a series of free lectures held at Nunez.
The series was created to provide a cultural opportunity, to explore the
rich heritage of the area, and to take a small step in offering St. Bernard
the advantages of being a "college town" with Nunez Community College at the
center.

Generally, lectures are held the first Monday of each month of the school
year. The lectures are free and open to the public.
