Nunez Community College Names 2014 Pelican Award Winners

(May 14, 2014)- Nunez bestowed its annual Pelican Awards for outstanding
service and contribution to the college and community at this year's
Employee Appreciation Day, held at the College on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

This year, Nunez gave Pelican Awards in the categories of student, community
member, faculty, classified staff, and unclassified staff. Each year, the
recipients are nominated by the college's employees, faculty and staff
members, and winners are chosen by a special peer committee.

The Nunez Community College Pelican Awards were created to recognize
individuals who have provided outstanding service to and promotion of the
College or community colleges in general. The emphasis for the award is on
performance outside of the description of their job duties or their
expectations as a college student.

Kathleen LeBlanc, instructor of developmental Math, received the
Pelican Award in the faculty category, while the Pelican Award for
Classified and Unclassified Staff went to Kelly LeBoeuf, Administrative
Assistant in the Business & Technology Department, and Jason Hosch, IT
Manager, respectively. Stacey Lee received the award in the Student
category, and Jeff Pohlmann of Today's Ketch in Chalmette received this
year's Community Member award.

Nunez employees with 20, 15, 10, and 5 years of service with the College
were also recognized during Employee Appreciation Day.
