Louisiana woman wrongly arrested twice in Florida

AP Reporting
A 28-year-old single mother from Chalmette, who has the same name as someone
wanted by authorities, has been wrongly arrested twice by a northern Florida
sheriff's office.

In January, Ashley Nicole Chiasson spent 28 days in jail after being
extradited to Clay County from Louisiana. She was released after officials
realized they had the wrong person.

During a status hearing last month related to the grand theft case that was
being dropped, Chiasson was arrested again on another charge and spent
another week in jail.

The sheriff's office says Chiasson was released once the mistake was
realized.

Chiasson's attorney sent the sheriff's office a letter of intent to sue this
week. Chiasson says she lost her home while she sat in jail.

The Ashley O. Chiasson deputies thought they were arresting is older and
taller. She's still being sought.
