PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Keep Your Pets Safe this Fourth of July

What's a Fourth of July celebration without the fireworks, right! Well as
spectacular as they can be fireworks totally freak-out our pets. More dogs
run away from home over the Fourth of July holiday than any other time. The
safest place for your pet when the sparks are flying is inside but, if for
some reason, that is just not possible then make sure the area that your pet
is kept is secured and always make sure that your four legged friend has on
their collar and ID tags. Fireworks can cause even the most docile little
guy to bolt out the door, break through the gate or even dig under the fence
in a mad fury.

The Staff at St Bernard Parish Animal Services want to help you keep your
pet safe and want to increase the chances of reuniting lost pets with their
owners. If your pet becomes lost please contact us at Animal Services 504
278-1534 or come in to file a lost report, at 5455 E Judge Perez Drive,
Violet LA 70092. Bring a picture of your pet for us to include in the lost
report and if you can't come to the shelter the staff will help you over the
phone and provide you with options to email or text a picture of your pet.
Be sure to cover all your bases by contacting the parish's local vets as
well and leave word with them.

>From Monday, June 30th thru Thursday, July 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
the Animal Services will be offering pet micro-chipping at the reduced price
of $10. Pet I. D. Tags can also be purchased while you wait at a cost of
$5.
