VIOLET -- The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating an
alleged attempted murder after a Violet man opened fire Sunday at the car of
a man he felt threatened by, according to Sheriff James Pohlmann.

Pohlmann said Chad Davis, 27, was charged with attempted murder after he
fired 10 shots at Shawn Williams, 34, also of Violet, and hit Williams once
in the left hip.

About 9:20 p.m., Davis was standing on Tara Drive near Genie Street when
Williams drove up, Pohlmann said. Davis fired 10 shots with a 9 mm handgun
at Williams' car. Six shots hit Williams' car and one shot went through the
vehicle and hit Williams in the left hip.

Williams was taken to University Hospital with non life-threatening
injuries.

Davis was arrested Monday at his girlfriend's home, where deputies found a 9
mm handgun in the backyard, Pohlmann said.

In an interview with detectives, Davis claimed Williams rode up on him and
another man as they were standing outside. Davis said Williams threatened
him and said he would be back.

Pohlmann said when Williams returned, Davis opened fire on the car. The two
men apparently have an on-going feud about a personal issue, according to
the sheriff's office.

Davis is being held in St. Bernard Parish Prison on a $500,000 bond.
